My Introduction

Let me start by introducing myself. My name is Alison. I'm a self declared business woman, a mother, and a soon to be wife. I dream of the perfect work/life balance, but in reality the kids mess the house up faster than I can clean it, everyone complains they have no clothes (though 2 out of the 3 can use a washing machine) and our pet Edgar is the messiest eater I've ever know! Then there's the work side of life, my desk can't be seen for paperwork and the to-do list is like the house work, it grows faster than anything can get done. But I wouldn't change it for the world, well except for a clean house, at least for one day.

So what about McGowan & Co? That's what your really here for, isn't it?

Well, having started out selling motorcycle clothing and accessories, the business eventually evolved through motorcycles, to autojumbles, car boots and Ebay. Now I am setting up my online store (yes it doesn't look much now but Rome wasn't built in a day) selling everything you could possibly want for the home, garden and kids. Our bread and butter is vacuum parts, because its cheaper to fix a broken vac then replace it.

I am currently in the process of expanding the business also. Found a bigger premises, with my 1st ever office and I think I'm more excited about the office, but you can't blame a woman for wanting some organisation in her life. Right?

And finally the point that brought me to where I am now in business. Ebay!

Now that was a hard market to break, took almost a year to get the store really up and running. All along me and my fella were working hard all week, then up at 3am through the weekends for both Saturday and Sunday car boots. What is it they say about no rest for the wicked.....
